Coming to Kalymos
By plain or a boat
Flights
Kalymnos has become more accessible since the summer of 2006 as we now have an Airport on Kalymnos which runs all year round.
In the summer there are 1 – 2 flights a day with Skyexpress from Athens to Kalymnos and vice versa. In the winter there is a more limited service but there are still at least 3 flights running weekly.
Another way to come is by plane through Kos island.
Kos Airport also runs throughout the year. With regular Aegean and Skyexpress flights flying from Athens to Kos throughout the summer and winter as well as all of the charter flights with Ryanair, Easyjet and many more, some of which start at the end of March but most starting from the beginning of May.
Ferries
Athens to Kalymnos
The Blue Star ferries the can be caught from the port of Piraeus to Kalymnos. This trip usually takes between 10 – 12 hours. This also runs throughout the year but once again with a limited service in the winter.
Kos to Kalymnos
You can get a small passenger fast ferry (20 minutes) or a car ferry (50 minutes) from Mastichari Kos to Kalymnos
Anem S.A ferry company The Olympios Apollon or the Olympios Zeus run a good regular service from Mastichari to Kalymnos throughout the year this is a passenger and car ferry.
The Kalymnos Star or the Kalymnos Dolphin is also another passenger ferry that can be caught. This is also a regular service throughout the year from Mastichari to Kalymnos. This ferry boat generally tries to fit in with the flight departures and arrivals coming and going from Kos Airport.
Ferry Boat To The Island Of Telendos In Kalymnos
The small island of Telendos is separated from the island of Kalymnos by no more than a 5 minute boat trip. Boats run regularly in the summer every 30 minutes from the small Myrties jetty with a reduced service running in the winter.
Boats Trips To Local Islands
Boat trips to local islands such as Leros and Lipsi can be taken from the small jetty in Myrties. All other boat trips to further off islands can be caught from the main port in Pothia.
